Update: The hubby has reminded me to focus on the things I know for sure. He calms me in a way I can't describe. In a word, I'm terrified. I'm so incredibly anxious about what tomorrow holds and am impatient to know the full extent of what we're dealing with. The past week, I've been … Continue reading The Day Before
Decisions, decisions
I chose strawberry, peach, cherry and lime. And definitely not sugar free.
Pre-Op Complete
Whew. And I thought all previous doctor visits were information overload. They pale in comparison to today's meeting with my doc. I took about 6 pages of notes (on a small note pad, but still). I'll try to break it down in a consumable manner. Prior To Surgery More blood work! Check. Post-opp pain med … Continue reading Pre-Op Complete
We have a surgery date!
We are a go for Monday, December 21st at the Irvine Alton/Sand Canyon Kaiser facility. I won't know actual timing until my pre-op appointment. My pre-op will happen Friday, December 18th and I'll have a post-op on Tuesday, December 29th. Finally a bit of certainty in all this crazy chaos.
Pretty much.
Best cake ever. The love was overwhelming today.

Level Achieved: Pre-Op Medical Clearance This evening, I met with a physician in internal medicine to clear me for surgery. They basically want to make sure my heart isn't going to stop suddenly (confirmed by the EKG), and that I don't have any other medical issues that may pop up. My oncologist told me its a formality in my case, since obviously the risk of surgery is far less than leaving the mass inside my body.
Well, f*ck.
Surgery has been pushed to the week of December 21st so the liver specialist can consult during the surgery. He's actually coming in on his day off, so that's pretty amazing. While this is completely annoying and my ability to wait is wearing thin, my doctor assures me this is the best for my final … Continue reading Well, f*ck.
False Alarm.
Last night we ended up at the ER. Not surprisingly, I'm hyper aware of anything unusual going on with my body. I noticed my stool was a pinkish/red during the day, and while it gave me pause, I chalked it up to something I ate. (Anyone who has ever eaten an excessive amount of beets … Continue reading False Alarm.
Still waiting.
Haven't heard from surgery yet. Emailed my doctor to see what's up. Update 11:10am: My doctor's office emailed me back. We are working on the surgery schedule and we will let you know as soon as we have a date for you.
The waiting…
I'm still waiting to hear from the surgery scheduling team, but I've been told that next Monday (December 14) is the day. Another conversation with my doctor yesterday has given me as much information as can be provided, but there will be many unknowns until they get in there and see what's going on. The lesion … Continue reading The waiting…
