Had the 2nd post-op visit with the doc and got more information about what's coming. She's put the request for surgery in, and the head of the department (Dr. Tewari) will book it. I should hear from scheduling this week with final dates, but we're aiming for 2 weeks from now (either Monday or Wednesday). … Continue reading Two Weeks
Phase II: The Force Awakens
Speaking of which, we still haven't seen Star Wars. We're planning on going to a cushy theater in the next few weeks if anyone wants to join us. Now, on to the business at hand. The cancer has been defined as a high grade papillary cerous ovarian cancer. There was evidence of cancer in both … Continue reading Phase II: The Force Awakens
The Day Before
Update: The hubby has reminded me to focus on the things I know for sure. He calms me in a way I can't describe. In a word, I'm terrified. I'm so incredibly anxious about what tomorrow holds and am impatient to know the full extent of what we're dealing with. The past week, I've been … Continue reading The Day Before
Pre-Op Complete
Whew. And I thought all previous doctor visits were information overload. They pale in comparison to today's meeting with my doc. I took about 6 pages of notes (on a small note pad, but still). I'll try to break it down in a consumable manner. Prior To Surgery More blood work! Check. Post-opp pain med … Continue reading Pre-Op Complete

Level Achieved: Pre-Op Medical Clearance This evening, I met with a physician in internal medicine to clear me for surgery. My oncologist told me its a formality in my case, since obviously the risk of surgery is far less than leaving the mass inside my body.
My oncologist
I REALLY like my doctor. She's been a straight shooter from the beginning and has been so receptive to my constant emails with questions and clarifications. I don't think I've ever spent as much time speaking with a single doctor in my entire life. Not only is her bedside manner great, she's legit. Here's Katherine … Continue reading My oncologist
The waiting…
I'm still waiting to hear from the surgery scheduling team, but I've been told that next Monday (December 14) is the day. Another conversation with my doctor yesterday has given me as much information as can be provided, but there will be many unknowns until they get in there and see what's going on. The lesion … Continue reading The waiting…
How we got here…
The 2nd week of November I began having sharp pain on the left side of my pelvis. Like any normal person, I ignored it and hoped it would go away. The following week, I noticed my period was 5 days late and this was unusual given my like-clockwork cycle. (My husband and I have been … Continue reading How we got here…
